I’m just starting my business—how should I choose my first vacuum sealer?

If you’re new to the vacuum packaging industry and aren’t sure where to start, here are some common questions you should focus on. The number one mistake first-time buyers most commonly make is either choosing equipment that’s too high-end—purchasing industrial-grade, high-capacity models they don’t actually need—or choosing equipment that’s insufficient—buying a household-grade external vacuum sealer that can’t handle their actual production needs. Below, we’ll help you clarify your selection criteria.
Please answer the following 3 questions first:
Question 1: Does your product contain any liquids, marinades, or moisture?
Yes → You must use a chamber-type vacuum sealer; there is no alternative. An external vacuum pump model will fail within a few weeks if it draws in liquid. No → Both chamber-type and external vacuum pump models are acceptable; proceed to the second question.
Question 2: How many bags need to be sealed each day?
Up to 50 bags per day → An external vacuum sealer or an entry-level single-chamber vacuum sealer will suffice; there’s no need to overspend.
50–300 bags per day → The DZ-400 to DZ-500 series single-chamber vacuum machines are suitable entry-level models. If daily output exceeds 300 bags from the start of production → Choose a dual-chamber vacuum machine directly. Although the initial purchase cost is higher, this will prevent production capacity bottlenecks.
Question 3: What are the dimensions of the packaging bag?
Bag width up to 400 mm → Compatible with any standard single-chamber machine
Bag width: 400–600 mm → Carefully verify the chamber width; most mid-range models have a maximum chamber width of 500 mm. Bag width exceeding 600 mm → An external vacuum pump or a chamber vacuum sealer with a larger chamber must be used.

Pitfalls to Avoid When Making Your First Purchase
If you need to package products containing water or with high humidity, do not purchase an oil-free rotary vane pump model. Dry rotary vane pumps and diaphragm pumps cannot achieve a vacuum level of –90 kPa and will age and fail rapidly upon contact with water vapor.
Do not purchase equipment that does not specify the vacuum pump brand and pumping speed (cubic meters per hour). The vacuum pumps in such equipment are typically low-end, private-label components, and their specifications cannot be verified.
Don’t choose the lowest-priced product in its category. The actual service life of a vacuum sealer depends on the vacuum pump and transformer, and these two core components cannot be distinguished by appearance alone. In the vacuum sealer industry, price is almost directly proportional to the quality of the components.
